The Denby Dale Centre
The Denby Dale Centre was established in 2005 by members of the Denby Dale Methodist Church. The organisation’s main aim is to reduce isolation in the local area by running activities that bring people together and to improve quality of life.
The Denby Dale Centre has been receiving support from VAC – Improving Local Lives Greater Huddersfield since the service began in April 2017. Paul Jones, the Centre Manager for The Denby Dale Centre regularly attends our Small Groups Network Meeting and the organisation is working towards the Quality For Health award. The Denby Dale Centre also has a trained Community Voice who regularly takes part in engagement and consultation activity on behalf of Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
This video demonstrates the fantastic work that The Denby Dale Centre does across its two sites (Denby Dale and Kirkburton) and the impact its work has on the local community.
Community Voices are individuals working in the VCSE sector who are trained to engage with the local population on Greater Huddersfield CCGs behalf and talk to them about changes and developments in their local healthcare. They give communities a louder voice and help to make sure that health services are developed in response to the needs of local people.
In partnership with Greater Huddersfield CCG, VAC will deliver training sessions that support communities to have the skills and knowledge to carry out engagement and consultation activities.
Adults with learning disabilities face significant barriers to involvement. VAC, in partnership with Greater Huddersfield CCG, provided training for individuals to help them build confidence and get involved. In this short film below, Andrea explains how the training she received has given her a voice.
Quality For Health
Quality For Health is VAC’s unique quality assurance system for the VCSE sector delivering health services. It is designed to help organisations evidence the quality of the health services they deliver and show how these services make a real difference to their service users.
Greater Huddersfield CCG are funding 20 VCSE organisations to work towards this standard. (Please note: you must be currently delivering services/activities in Greater Huddersfield to be eligible for this funding)
